Overview:
When a person has a desire to say thank you, or
to praise someone for something that they have done,
or if they have a request or petition of
another...they would usually communicate that
message by some regular form of communication.
Today we communicate to one another through the
internet, cell phones, PDA's, telephones, letters and on
occasion, one to one. There are hundreds of
different ways to communicate with other people, but
the most advanced system of communication that
this world will ever know is called "prayer."
Prayer to God gets your message to the Supreme God
who created the heavens and the earth. There are no
wires, no satellites, no batteries to charge, no wireless radio
waves or cell phone transmissions. Our
thoughts do not even need to be spoken...as the one
true God can hear when we direct our thoughts and
hearts towards Him.
The purpose of this lesson is to provide a very
brief introduction to the subject of prayer.
Although the subject of prayer might take a lifetime
for mankind to discuss and study...the lesson here
is short and focused on the essentials so that you
may, in a relatively short period of time, begin a
more focused life of prayer.
Goals:
After completing this lesson, you will be better
prepared to answer these questions:
- What is prayer?
- What instructions did Jesus give His
disciples on how they should pray?
- What should accompany prayer?
- Does God hear the prayers of those who are
not "in Christ?"
About this lesson:
This lesson focuses primarily on the New
Testament scriptures related to prayer. The
lesson contains 26 questions. This brief
study is designed as a beginning point in our
understanding of prayer. Continue to study the
entire Bible on your own...over and over...and with
others who are searching for the truth.
